Lange Foundation

If you need to buy a gift for an animal lover that already has everything try out the Lange Foundation. With donations, the Lange Foundation removes dogs from shelters and places them in good homes. Bailey thinks this is a great idea and a great gift. Make a donation in someone's name a card from the point of view of the rescued animal will be sent to them.

Dog Friendly City - Asheville, NC

I have never been anywhere that catered to dawgs like Asheville, NC. You can take your dawg into stores while you shop downtown. There are numerous dawg boutique stores. Restaurants allow you to eat outside with your dawg, and random stores have bowls of water outside for your dawg to take a drink. The Biltmore house even allows dawgs on the grounds, but it was $51 a person this weekend so we did not go.

I discovered a website that I plan to take advantage of in the future. My sister also found it when looking up some stuff for us (I used her as my personal google this weekend - thanks Ashley). Check out dogfriendly.com for ideas of things to do with your dog in various cities across the US.

BAILEY ENJOYED A DRINK AND A REST
Bailey wore his red bandanna this weekend; it is his flair for his vacation. I like to think he enjoys it, but Rudy says he doesn't.

The Cabin

This weekend was Bailey's first trip to The Cabin, and he loved it; he is definitely a mountain dog. He ran through the bushes, he went down the side of the mountain (I thought Rudy was going to have to climb down and get him), he disappeared on adventures in the woods, he chased bugs, and then he napped.

EXPLORING THE WOODS

Our peaceful walk down to see Luke and the waterfall became very eventful. When Bailey saw Luke he went berserk. He gave us a good hound dog bark and a back mohawk. For those of you who have not met Luke, he is a little wooden man with a gun, overhauls, an American flag, and a bottle of moonshine. We let him off the leash to go play in the waterfall, but then he went straight over the edge of the mountain to explore (about a 75% grade). Rudy and I were freaking out, but Bailey was having the time of his life tromping through the briers and brush.

The Ocoee

On the way to the Cabin we stopped off at the Ocoee River for Bailey to explore. He did not care too much about it.

Seriously Bailey?

I have often thought it would be funny if Bailey were chewing gum. Take a moment to picture this. However, it never crossed my mind that he might step in gum until he did on Friday. Bailey had green gum stuck to his little paw, and the gum quickly collected dirt, a leaf, and little sticks. He did not seem to care, but what a mess. Most of it worked its way off, but much to his disliking I had to pull some of the little sticks out.

What can Brown do for you?

I have to make a shout out to the UPS Store in Madison, AL!! I was mailing a package today, and Bailey was going nuts in the car...as usual. The lady at the UPS Store told me I could bring Bailey inside. Hurrah!! He put his little paws up on the counter and looked like a regular customer...then he got bored and laid in the floor until we left.

Little Tony's brother, Mocha Smoke

Mocha is our neighbor's dog. Yay!! Mocha is Bailey's role model. Mocha is probably the best behaved dog I have even seen in my life. She will not cross the line of our neighbor's property unless given permission to do so, even if something super exciting is going on across the street. Bailey on the other hand, will run through our yard, our neighbor's yard, and into their garage. He'd go in their house if the door was open. Bailey has so much to learn. Our neighbor's let us borrow a book that they used to guide them in training Mocha: How to Be Your Dog's Best Friend: The Classic Training Manual For Dog Owners Rudy and I would both recommend it to any dog owner; it uses some of the same principles as Cesar Millan (the dog whisperer man).

Bailey's Nemesis

Like Dr. Evil to Austin Powers, Bailey has a nemesis...Little Tony.

Little Tony is our neighbor's cat. Bailey loves to chase Little Tony, but Little Tony is - I am sad to say - much smarter than Bailey. Little T hides in the bushes where Bailey can't get her, she climbs trees, gets on the car, etc. One day Little T was standing right outside our office window looking at Bailey through the glass. What torture for Bailey...

I'm tired of waking up to tornado sirens and so is Bailey

Thursday we got released from school at lunch time because of inclement weather, and Bailey was thrilled that I got to come home early. Later in the afternoon, Bailey and I were woken up from our nap by the weather radio and tornado sirens. We decided to go back to sleep because the tornado was about 7 miles south of us.

Saturday night was the same story. Rudy, Bailey, and I had just finished watching Turner and Hooch (Bailey actually watched the television - he liked Hooch), and the weather radio went to town again. I almost ripped it off the wall; while helpful, it is very annoying. We all decided to huddle up in the corner when the sirens went off and watch the weather. Luckily we were safe.

Great Dawg Movie

This is a throwback, but Turner and Hooch was a great movie. I was looking at clips of it today on YouTube (yes, I have nothing to do). I found this clip of Tom Hanks trying to lock up Hooch, and then Hooch wakes up in this bed with him; it reminded me of Bailey. Bailey is an escape artist, and he has a magical way of ending up in our bed but starting out on the floor. Bailey sneaks into our bed in the middle of the night and pretends like he isn't there; he even hides under the covers like Hooch. He is just so darn cute that we can't kick him out....in case you can't tell things are slow around here, and I really don't have anything to post so I am making stuff up...
